If your Nissan 240sx s13 or s14 are having some rough idling going on, wants to die, or even won’t let you rev very high it’s time to have a look at your mass air flow sensor.

What does a Mass Air Flow Sensor do?
The mass air flow sensor tells the ECU how much air is coming into the engine.

It is quite easy to remove your MAF and clean it, this can “sometimes” clear up a few hiccups you are having with your 240sx. It is extremely cheap to do and doesn’t hurt anything. If anything it will further help you diagnose a problem with your Nissan is there is one.

The main thing to remember is to NOT I repeat DO NOT touch the element inside with Q tips or anything! This can and will damage your MAF if it isn’t already bad.

Go to your local auto parts stores and snag a can of electrical contact cleaner, or the great CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner!
This can also be used to clean the gunk inside your harness plug that connects to the MAF.

Try not to use any cleaner from home depot such as xylene and such. These leave residues that are a pain to remove and can cause you more issues.
