Use a known combination as a starting point—not a recipe
Practical context
A documented swap combination can reduce uncertainty because mounts, transmission placement, driveshaft and wiring approaches are already understood. But two builds with the same engine name can still differ in donor version, oil pan, turbo, accessories, ECU, chassis damage and aftermarket parts.
Before copying a parts list, identify which dependencies made that combination work: engine position, transmission, crossmember, steering, radiator/fan stack, exhaust route and electrical-control method. Changing one can invalidate several downstream parts.
The best value of a known combination is not that it guarantees fitment; it shows a sequence of decisions you can compare with your own car. Measure before ordering fabricated or non-returnable parts, and document your final configuration for future service.
