Model-year details matter most when parts interfaces changed

Practical context

S13 and S14 ownership spans changes in emissions equipment, wiring, trim and other market-specific details. Swap donors add another layer of version differences. When an electrical connector, ECU pinout, sensor or accessory does not match a guide, stop and identify the exact year/market instead of forcing the assumption.

For U.S.-market repair specifications, use the correct Nissan service information for the vehicle year. Nissan Heritage Collection specifications are valuable historical context for the S-chassis family but may describe Japanese-market Silvia/180SX examples with different engines and equipment.

Keep donor information with the car: VIN or donor source when available, engine/ECU identifiers, transmission model, clutch/flywheel, differential, fuel-system components and calibration file/version. That record becomes increasingly valuable as the build ages.
